Be sure you allow time for a guided tour of the oldest registered distillery in the United States when you visit Jack Daniel's Country. You'll meet some friendly people, glad to see you and proud to show you how their famous Tennessee whiskey has always been made.
Jasper Newton (Jack) Daniel was a life-long resident of Lynchburg, and founder of the distillery that was registered "No. 1" with the U.S. Government in 1866.
The making of our Tennessee whiskey was set down by our founder, Jack Daniel, and has been maintained and preserved for over 125 years.
The charcoal-mellowing process takes many days because the whiskey must seep drop-by-drop through the charcoal. It is this exclusive charcoal-mellowing process that produces smoothness and flavor characteristics that make Jack Daniel's truly a Tennessee whiskey.
